Lists

It is difficult for the human brain to understand disordered information. People will naturally try to bring order to things. We imagine the stars as people, animals, and other objects.
We feel more comfortable when things are organized into patterns. Think of all of the times that we organize things. We naturally want things in order.

Our brain can only remember a certain number of things at one time and for only a minimal amount of time before we have to refresh it.

In designing a Web page, a good web master will take these concepts into consideration by organizing information into small sets. One of these types of sets is called a list.

How long should a list be? Our brains like groups of about 4 to 5 items at one time. If there are more than 4 to 5 things to list, the items should be grouped into smaller units.
The better that this can be done, the easier the information will be to understand by the user of the Web page.

We will review three types of lists: Un-ordered, ordered, and Nested.

Unordered Lists

Unordered lists are used to present parallel points or to list multiple items that do not necessarily follow in a particular order. Unordered list items are normally preceded by small solid circles called bullets.

Below is an example of an unordered list.
